Capstan Cottage Portsalon - formerly a coastguard cottage - sits on an elevated site in Donegal, overlooking Lough Swilly with views of Knockalla Mountains to the rear.
There are two holiday cottages available to rent, Capstan Cottage Portsalon sleeping 6 and Anchor Cottage Portsalon sleeping 4 guests comfortably.
Both coastal holiday cottages have been sympathetically refurbished, both oozing charm and character. Capstan Cottage Portsalon Description – Sleeps 6 This holiday cottage has a delightful open-plan kitchen, living room and dining room area.
The open plan style creates the perfect atmosphere for a self catering holiday with family and friends.
Capstan Cottage Portsalon has 3 bedrooms and sleeps 6 guests comfortably: Property layout – Ground floor: - Cottage style kitchen - Living room with multifuel stove - Dining area Property layout – First floor: - Bedroom 1: double sleeping 2 - Bedroom 2: double sleeping 2 - Bedroom 3: twin sleeping 2 - Family bathroom Ample car parking is available beside Capstan Cottage.
Towels and tea towels are provided free of charge.
WIFI is available for our guests.
If you require a high chair and travel cot please remember to request them at the time of booking.
There is a delightful large cottage garden where you and your guests can enjoy outside dining, garden games and endless sea views.
Please note the garden is not enclosed so children must be supervised. Local Area & Tourist Attractions From Capstan Cottage you are in for a treat as there are a number of breath-taking local beaches dotted along Lough Swilly and the Donegal coast.
Scraggy Bay, a small rocky beach which has an anchorage, is conveniently located only 1 km from the holiday cottages.
Things to do in the local area: - Kerrykeel Village: local grocery shops, takeaways & restaurants - Letterkenny - Sandy beaches - Fanad Head Lighthouse - Equestrian Centres - Malin Head - Glenveagh National Park - Glenveagh Castle - Donegal - Donegal International Rally in June IMPORTANT NOTES1.
Heating and Electricity: Depending on the location of your booking, a non-refundable Utility Contribution of €40 may apply.
If applicable, this charge is paid with your holiday balance and will appear in your payment breakdown.
If no Utility Contribution is shown on your booking, we recommend contacting our call centre to confirm how utility charges are applied, as this can vary by location.
If the €40 Utility Contribution has been charged, any additional utility costs will be handled in one of the following ways: • Paid locally to the Owner or Property Manager.
Please check with them directly, as the calculation method varies by property. • Pay As You Go electricity meter.
The €40 will be credited to the meter on the first day of your stay, and you will need to top up the meter as required during your stay.
Please note that gas or oil charges, where applicable, are always payable locally based on usage and are not included in the amount paid at the time of booking. 2.
Security Deposit: A minimum refundable security deposit of €200 (per property) must be paid prior to check-in to your holiday home to the local Property Manager/ Owner.
This is either taken over the phone by pre-authorising your credit card when you call the Property Manager to arrange your arrival time 48 hours in advance of arrival or at others it is taken on arrival by cash.
In some locations and at certain times of year this can increase to €500 per property.

Anne & Chris houses are in a fabulous location and are perfectly located for touring the Fannad area of donegal.
The houses are well maintained and reasonably well equipped. comfortable beds nice carpets in bedrooms and fabulous views across lough swilly

The sheltered location by the sea, and beautiful views from the large garden were the highlights. The garden was great for kids for playing. The bedrooms are nicely decorated and the window seat upstairs a good spot for reading and enjoying the views.

The location of Anchor Cottage is beautiful with a fantastic view. Near to a wonderful beach and great walks. The hosts were friendly and helpful. Trident holidays were very good communicators, efficient and provided useful information. The accommodation was clean and comfortable.
