Welcome to our Catskills cabin! We have multiple large bedrooms, kitchen, dining room, front and back yard with hot tub, and an indoor fireplace. Outside is a deck for dining and two ponds with a stone patio with fire pit. We are slowly renovating this place so there are probably new features as time goes on! 90 minutes from Brooklyn and nearby all the great Catskill attractions.
Our home is 90 minutes from NYC and we just love coming here! We are actively working on this house and there will be upgrades as time goes on. This log home was custom built in 1989 and we are updating it as we can to make it our dream house! This house is a real home, so you won't find the sterile, bare-boned and flimsy furniture that other bnbs have!
On the main floor is a spacious living room with tall ceilings, large stone fireplace, and modular seating. There is also a cozy den/tv room with a memory-foam queen sleeper sofa (exceptionally comfy!), and a modernized black tile bathroom with shower, a dining room and a fully-stocked kitchen.
Upstairs, there is a main bedroom with split-King mattresses (they also vibrate and bend!), a huge, serene white bathroom with a freestanding tub and shower, and a walk-in closet. There is also a loft space that overlooks the living room with a desk, reading pouf, twin bed, and tv.
Downstairs, there is a large and quiet guest studio with a king-sized bed, and large tv with an amazing surround sound stereo. There is also a newly-built laundry room, and another large empty room that currently has no furniture, but can fit in several air mattresses for extra guests. Or be used as a yoga studio?
Outside is a front porch (*Summer '24: porch is being rebuilt) and a front yard that faces a rural street, and in the back there is a deck, large yard and a stone patio area with ponds and a fire pit.
Additional notes:
-The property is NOT fenced in but there is a natural shrub barrier and half-fence out back. It's common to see deer!
-The property is treated monthly for ticks and mosquitos, and cleaned weekly by a local cleaning service.
-There is a new porch to be completed by end of summer '24
-The current BBQ grill is the cheapest thing ever - it's useable, but only for a short time or it will melt. *I welcome suggestions for grill models!
-Guests can use the whole home except for the utility/boiler room, and any locked areas. -Please do not borrow any clothing or personal items.
-Toiletries and linens for guests will be clearly indicated.
-There is a lockbox with guest keys for entry.
-There is a fob for the garage door provided to guests.
We will be available by phone at all times and there's a chance we will be leaving as you are arriving or arriving when you are leaving.
Call us with any questions!
The street contains only two other homes and is otherwise farmland to the north and some industrial areas to the south. We recommend using route 416 to view the beauty of this area and to check out Thomas Bull Memorial Park, Montgomery, Goshen, and Middletown!
There is no real transportation other than your own car. There is a train at Campbell Hall, 7 minutes away, which goes north to Port Jervis and south to Hoboken where one could catch the Path to NYC. You would need a ride to this train station. The next nearest train is to Beacon, which is 20 minutes away, and goes straight to Grand Central Station. I haven't been able to locate any reliable cab services but if you find one please let me know!
Please note that this is a home and not a hotel. We have a weekly cleaning service but otherwise this is maintained by two human beings who are looking to share this home with love and kindness.
If you are looking to go hiking and sightsee in the Catskills, visit farmer's markets and cook your farm-to-table meals, get a good night's rest and relax by a fire, this is the place for you!
We do not have the following at this time:
-Anything for children (bedding, toys, highchair, etc)
-Extensive cookware, but we do have the basics, an Instapot, and enough to cook or bake typical meals. We recommend bringing any special items you would like to use.
-Bowls/Plates for more than 4 people - we are getting another set soon.
-Extra firewood
We do have:
-Toiletries and bedding
-Wifi and Smart TVs
-Purified water dispenser
-Vintage glassware
-A vintage piano
-A treadmill
-Dishwasher, electric stove, microwave, toaster oven
-Washer and dryer and hypoallergenic detergent
-Baseboard heating in every room, ceiling or portable fans
-Extra blankets
